Hello 5A Parents,

The Lenten season is upon us and your children have been busy writing Lenten promises, praying, reflecting, and meditating on the Stations of the Cross, participating in Confession, and celebrating a Lenten Reconcilation prayer service. These activities describe the students as being Active Christians in our Catholic faith.

In Math, we've completed studying Fractions: Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing fractions. Currently, we are studying Decimals, including Place Value, Addition, and Subtraction. Soon, we will be Multiplying and Dividing Decimals.

In Science, we've completed our inquiry of the Water Cycle, and currently we are investigating weather and the Solar System.

In Reading, we have completed our 3rd novel: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis, We will begin our final chapter book Bridge to Terabithia by Katerine Paterson this week. We have also completed Theme 4 of our Reading anthology book "Person to Person," and will  begin Theme 5 "One Land, Many Trails," this week.

In Social Studies we are completing our study of European Exploration and Settlement, and will begin to study the establishment of the American colonies on the East Coast.
Before Easter break the students will be assigned their State Project, and after Easter they will begin to be quizzed on the 50 States and Capitals. I want to take this time to wish you all a blessed Happy Easter!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Dana Sargenti
