In eighth grade Social Studies, we are currently covering the Mexican-American War.  The students are learning about the Battle of the Alamo and famous American frontiersmen such as Sam Houston, Davey Crockett, and Jim Bowie.  We are also going to be drawing a map of the United States that will include major geographical features, all 50 states, their capitals, and the years they entered the Union.  They will also learn how to draw a map to scale.

For the seventh grade, we are currently covering the continent of Asia;  particularly China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.  We are also doing a cooking project that will require the students to research an assigned country, choose a famous recipe, and bring a finished product to class to share with their peers.

And in eighth grade Literature, we are just finishing up reading "The Diary of Anne Frank." So far, we have covered the rise of Hitler and the Nazi Party, the causes and effects of World War II, and the war over Amsterdam.  Soon we will also start writing newspaper articles on the major battles of World War II, the Holocaust, and the "War in the Pacific."
