Our Lady of Mercy - Classroom Sites

Our Lady of Mercy is a "Five-Star School" that offers our students a valuable experience in all areas of formation:

Strong Spiritual Foundation
Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School provides for the growth of the whole child based on solid Catholic Christian values. Our school nourishes the spiritual, intellectual, social, psychological and physical growth of each child. Our students are helped to develop their unique abilities and are prepared to succeed in future educational endeavors and to live effectively in the Church as well as the civic and cultural communities.

Academic Excellence
We encourage and support the role of parents as the primary educators and work in cooperation with parents and guardians to achieve our goals. We expect our students to consistently put forth their best efforts and we provide a safe, comfortable, Christian environment where students can achieve their fullest potential.

Enrichment Programs
The program for Kindergarten through Eighth Grade follows the course of study prescribed by the Archdiocese of San Francisco, which is based on the requirements mandated by the State of California. The curriculum is enriched by field trips, assemblies and guest speakers. Our students score well above the national average on standardized achievement tests. The majority of our graduates continue their academic success in one of the Bay Area Catholic High Schools. Students at Our Lady of Mercy participate in a Library Science Program in our Library-Media Center—the program is under the direction of a full-time Librarian. Creative Arts is an important part of the curriculum at Our Lady of Mercy School. Students receive instruction in music, art and drama during the regular part of the school day and have the option of choosing Band and Chorus as electives. Classrooms are equipped with Apple® Computers. All students receive formal instruction in the use of computers in our fully-equipped Pacelli Macintosh Computer Lab.

Fitness for Life through P.E. & After-School League Sports
Our Lady of Mercy maintains a strong and active Physical Education Program in an effort to teach fitness for life. This program is directed by a credentialed Physical Education Instructor. The OLM Bulldogs participate in soccer, basketball, volleyball and baseball through the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and the Daly City Parks and Recreation leagues.

Special Services
Our Lady of Mercy has a full-time credentialed Special Education Teacher on staff to test, assist and/or refer students with learning differences. A full-time Counselor is available to help both students and their families at difficult times. Our Extended Care program, fondly called ‘The Clubhouse,’ has been designed to create an extended family atmosphere for the students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade who need quality care. It is our goal to support our students and their families by providing an informal setting that encourages adult and peer relationships and promotes enrichment for the growth of the whole student.
