First Quarter Update

Welcome to First Grade! I hope that you and your families had a wonderful summer break.

My name is Margarita De Jesus and I will be teaching the students in First Grade A. This is my third year of teaching at OLM. Prior to this, I taught Kindergarten for 3 years at St. Timothy School in San Mateo. I look forward to meeting you and your child on the first day of school.

In First Grade, the students will learn reading and language arts, science, math, social studies and religion. Newsletters will be sent home to inform you of our units of study so that you can help reinforce concepts that your child is learning. With our collaborative efforts and open communication, we will be able to help our students reach their full potential and have a successful year!

Some reminders:

• Wednesday, Aug. 25th is the first day of school. School begins at 8AM and dismissal is at 10AM. Students will line up in front of 1B every morning before the morning bell rings, where I will pick up the students to walk to the 1A classroom located in the lower level of the school. Students will also be dismissed in front of the 1B classroom, after school.
• Please remember to label backpacks and sweaters. Also, Emergency cards and Disaster forms will be sent home on this day. Please fill out the form completely and return them the next day.
• The students' school supplies have been ordered and are in the classroom. Please send $25 in an envelope, labeled with your child's name in your student's homework folder sometime during the first week of school. Homework folder will be distributed on the first day of school.
