In first grade, your child has begun to interact with his/her classroom teacher as well as art, music, and physical education teachers. Students eat at school and go to and from school with limited assistance; they are learning independence. Students also have homework assignments. The following list is more of what your child will learn this year.

Read at least 100 sight words.

Locate the main idea and details in stories.

Recall the sequence of events in oral and written stories.

Print words legibly.

Write words legibly in manuscript form.

Capitalize the first word in a sentence and use the period and question mark at the end of a sentence.

Recognize the singular and plural forms of nouns.

Welcome to 1B!!!

My name is Nancy Souza Andre and I will be teaching the students of 1B for the 2011-2012 school year. I am looking forward to meeting each of my students and their families. I am also very proud to say that I am a graduate of OLM and am very excited to be a part of the OLM family.
