First Quarter Update

Welcome to 2B!

I am looking forward to having a great year with your child. It will be filled with learning, love and laughter! Second grade is an exciting year, especially from a faith-based perspective. The students will learn many new concepts this year that will both excite them and challenge them.

Below is a brief overview of our first quarter in 2nd grade

Religion/Family Life: We will cover a variety of topics. We will have religion daily and will attend weekly mass as a class. The primary focus of this year will be on preparation for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Language Arts: We will go over short and long vowel sounds and high frequency words. We will explore the concept of characters, main idea, details, and vocabulary, while enjoying interesting stories. We will also focus on sentence structure and development.

Mathematics: We will focus on addition and subtraction facts and data graphs. Social Studies: We will be learning about neighborhoods and communities.

Science: We will be exploring Life Science.

I look forward to working closely with you as parents to make your child’s year successful, happy and memorable.

Please have all your child’s supplies ready and labeled with their name. I am eager to review Frog and Toad with 2B, so we can enjoy fun discussions and activities for this book.
