First Quarter Update

Welcome to 6A! I hope everybody had a relaxing and rejuvenating summer. I am so excited to be starting another year in sixth grade at OLM. Because this is the last year before entering Jr. High, we will really be focusing on preparing ourselves all year long for that transition. I know I can count on all of the parents for plenty of support. This year, Miss O’ Reilly will be teaching Math and Social Studies to both sixth grade classes and I will be teaching Religion, English and Spelling to both classes. Students will remain in their homeroom classes for all other subjects.

Please look for my classroom expectations handout that will be given to students on the first day of school. I ask that parents be sure to sign and turn in the last page as soon as possible. Below are the three general expectations that you will find at the beginning of the handout:

  • RESPONSIBILITY: doing your homework every night, not copying others work, being honest and making sure that all of your work gets done on time.
  • RESPECT: listening when others talk, engaging in only positive interactions with others and taking care of the classroom room environment.
  • ORGANIZATION: having a clean, organized desk, turning assignments in on time, and keeping notes and assignments neatly in your binder.

As your pre-teens navigate their way through this chapter in their lives, I would ask that they continue to practice good Christian values by always showing respect for their classmates, teachers and all of the OLM staff. I also ask that they always do their best in all of their work.

I look forward to meeting all of you on Back To School Night when I will share with you more about what to expect in sixth grade as well as more about myself.
