6A - 2nd Quarter Update

Halloween, report cards, Parent-Teacher Conferences – all signs that our first quarter has quickly come to an end. I absolutely loved meeting with all of my students’ parents. It was wonderful to be able to spend some time hearing what “Mom” and/or “Dad” have to share about their child and for me to share as well.

The students of 6A have already learned so much already! In Religion, we have completed our first unit in which we learned much about God’s covenant with His people through the stories of our ancestors, starting with Abraham.

In Language Arts, we worked hard on our first formal essay and will be doing much more writing this quarter. We also finished our first novel, The School Story and have already begun our next novel, The Breadwinner.

In Science, we completed our first unit that introduced 6A to Earth Science.

Here are a few reminders to help us keep up the great work in 6A:

  • Be sure to pack a healthy snack and lunch everyday…or complete your preorder online or on the pink form for our delicious hot lunches.
  • Get a good night’s sleep every night. (Pre-teens need at least nine hours!!)
  • Make sure you are using your best effort in all of your work and turning it in on time.
  • Be sure Mom and/or Dad see those graded papers every Friday.
  • A great attitude can go a long way!

God bless all and see you on campus.

6A - 1st Quarter Update

Welcome to 6A! I hope everybody had a relaxing and rejuvenating summer. I am so excited to be starting another year in sixth grade at OLM.

It was a pleasure meeting so many of you on Back To School Night where I had the chance to share with you more about what to expect in sixth grade as well as more about myself.

As your pre-teens navigate their way through this chapter in their lives, I would ask that they continue to practice good Christian values. The Schoolwide Learning Expectations (S*T*A*R*S*) are a great way to start! In this way we can count on students to always show respect for their classmates, teachers and all of the OLM staff as well as always do their best in all of their work.

Because this is the last year before entering Jr. High, we will really be focusing on preparing ourselves all year long for that transition. Students will need to be much more responsible and independent in order to succeed in the sixth grade. It will be extremely important to complete all homework on time. I am happy to support my students in order for them to be successful and I know I can count on all of the parents for plenty of support as well.
