8A - 2nd Quarter Update

8A is the home base of language exploration and discovery. The junior high students examine structural rules and models of good writing to strengthen their individual talents, as they endeavor to become successful communicators.

In the 8th grade English classes, our writing skills are demonstrating not only that we are successful communicators, but thoughtful individuals, as well. One example of this was writing letters to our school's first principal, Sister Claire Maher O.P. (These were birthday wishes for Sister's 104th birthday.)

In the 7th grade English classes, we are enriching our writing styles with modifiers. We are studying words to find clear and precise ways to communicate our thoughts.

In the 8A section of literature, we are reading the wonderful mystery novel, the Sweetness at the bottom of the Pie, by Alan Bradley. We are also studying the literary genre of the short story. We are analyzing characters, plots, themes, and setting to build a deeper understanding of the author's art.

Lastly, eighth graders are anticipating their future goals with upcoming high school recommendations and testing. They are strong example of thoughtful individuals and active Christians.
