Welcome back to the Art room where imagination and creativity flourish!
This year the students begin by playing “Pictionary “on the whiteboard. They will be divided into two teams, each named after a famous artist. They then will be given a word and compete to see which team will be first to correctly identify twenty pictures that their team members draw. Taking turns, everyone gets a chance at drawing! It can get a little noisy from the excitement, but always is a favorite!
Beginning in late September our third through eighth graders will be creating ecology art. Collecting empty soda cans that they have not drunk, we will be making 3-D flowers and airplanes. A variety of patterns will be offered from which to choose.
I ask that each student complete an outside of school art project for each quarter. I encourage them to use their imagination to make their project reflect their interests. An ice sculpture chiseled from a frozen milk carton, photography, painting, needlework, drawing, painting, visiting an art gallery…the possibilities are endless!
I look forward to sharing each and every student’s ideas and projects this 2009-2010 year!
