Lisa Perez has served as OLM's school counselor since 2001. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT 42596.
Counseling services are available during school hours. OLM's counseling program provides students an opportunity to discuss specific needs in a supportive environment.
Students have confidential access to the school counselor where areas of concern can be addressed. Such concerns addressed include conflict resolution, peer relationships, changes in the family and self-esteem building Students can self-refer, parents may request assistance or teachers may recommend counseling services for a student.
The school counselor works for the classroom teacher to provide weekly classroom lessons. Classroom presentations include the subjects of friendship building, bullying prevention, self-esteem building, conflict resolution, decision making skills and drug and alcohol prevention.
The school counselor is a member of the Student Success Team, led by the Resource Staff, and attends all Student Success Team meetings.
