Our Lady of Mercy embraces the diversity of learners at all levels from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. The challenge of inclusion for learners with mild to moderate exceptionalities is advocated by effective and individualized learning support in collaboration with student, teacher, parents, staff and administration. This inclusion takes on all aspects of the school community: sports, fine arts, academics, and extra curricular and religious activities.
These services are instituted by a service plan agreed upon by our Student Success Team, made up of the student, their parents, and their teachers, the Resource Specialist and the OLM Administration. Many of the Students in our Resource Center already have an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) from a local school District, an Educational Report from a licensed Psychologist or Educational Therapist or a Medical Assessment from a Medical Doctor.
When a parent or teacher feels a student would benefit from the Resource Center, a Student Referral Form is initiated by the student’s teacher and is required to begin the intervention process. All services in the Resource Center are provided and planned through the collaboration process of Student Success Team.
