Resource Services

Resource Center
Our Lady of Mercy School has a credentialed resource teacher on staff to work with individuals and small groups who need learning support in all grade levels. When it is deemed in the best interest of the student, he or she may be referred to testing services outside of school from a licensed Educational Psychologist and/or medical professionals under the parent’s medical insurance plan. When it is deemed in the best interest of the student, he or she may need to utilize additional outside tutoring services.

Literacy Center
The Literacy Center serves students in grades K-8. The director works closely with the classroom teachers to build the reading and writing skills of both our emergent and more developed readers. The primary grade students reading below grade level are pulled to work in guided reading groups focusing on areas such as phonemic awareness, fluency, and comprehension. Older students who are already reading often need support in fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension strategies. The director also works with students at all levels on speaking and writing skills.

Extended Care Services
The “OLM Clubhouse” is an extended care program for students of Our Lady of Mercy School in Grades Kindergarten through 6th. It will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on all school days with the exception of the first and last day of school. It will be closed on any day the school designates as a holiday INCLUDING Christmas Vacation, Easter Vacation and Summer Vacation.

Counseling Services
The counseling services at OLM provide a professional, supportive and non-judgmental environment for our students. They can brainstorm solutions to problems, develop skills for conflict resolution, vent negative feelings, as well as discuss deeper matters. It can be a place for students to receive extra one-on-one adult attention. Outside resources can also be recommended.

Counseling services are offered to any OLM students Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 3:00 during the school year. Services include individual and/or group counseling or consulting. Referrals may be made through the student, parent/guardian, or faculty member.

Counseling information is NOT a part of the student’s permanent record file at Our Lady of Mercy School.
