Dear Second Grade Families,
I'm looking forward to meeting the children who will
be entering 2B. I hope that your summer has been
good. Please remember to go over the summer reading,
Frog And Toad Are Friends, by Arnold Lobel. It is a
good idea to reread the story together. Take turns
reading the pages and ask
your child questions about
what they just read. Look over the summer Mathematics
and make up some similar problems for extra practice.
Go over addition and subtraction facts.
Please make sure that supplies and items of clothing,
lunch containers, and backpacks are all clearly marked
with your child's name. It is really important that
your child has a nutritious snack and juice or water
for 10am snack, starting on August 26th. Beginning on
August 27, your child will need to bring a lunch or
purchase a hot lunch. Emergency cards will be issued
on the first day. Please return these cards filled
out completely. These should be turned in
immediately. (Please locate necessary phone numbers
and information, so that you can return these forms
the next day).
The Second Grade will be using a homework assignment
notebook. The cost for the notebook will be $4.00.
The homework will also be
written on a chart in the
classroom and displayed in the window.
This will be a special year with First Reconciliation
and First Communion. In Second Grade, your child will
develop their reading, writing, and Math skills (we
have a new Math series). They will learn about our
world by our studies in Science and Social Studies. I
look forward to working with your child in Second
Grade.
