Dear Parents,

Welcome back to a new year at Our Lady of Mercy School. I hope you enjoyed your summer with your family. I am looking forward to meeting you and teaching your children this school year.

This is an important school year for them, as they have make the transition to the middle grades and move into the main building. These next two years at O.L.M. are important years for your children, which require their participation, concentration, and focus on their particular subjects and their school as a community.

I have an exciting year planned for your child. I expect all students to try their best, turn in their work on time, and be respectful toward others inside as well as outside the classroom. My goal is for students to be successful at trying their best, and to believe in themselves as capable Catholic students.

Remember the Summer Math packet and summer Reading of "Maniac Magee" by Jerry Spinelli and "From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" by E. L. Konigsberg should be completed before August 25, 2008. Students should bring the Math packet on the 1st day of school. We will review the Summer Reading in class and most likely will be tested the following week, dates to be announced via the student assignment notebook.

A note about supplies: I do not need each student to bring in 500 pieces of binder paper on the 1st day of school. We usually use about 25 pieces of binder paper per week. Please keep a supply of binder paper at home to replenish your child's supply weekly. The same is true for the pencils, pens, and highlighters. Only 1 highlighter and 1 glue stick is needed at this time. I suggest your child bring in 3 pencils, 3 pens, and 3 red pens. Keep the others at home to replenish when needed. All other materials are needed at school.

See you soon and I look forward to spending time with you at "Back to School Night" on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 at 7:00 PM.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Dana Sargenti
